Wow, it has been such a long time since I posted on here...
Well, I am still alive, and kicking!
First things, first. America!
The America trip was amazing, I had such an awesome time over there, and I want to go back. Specifically, I want to go back to San Fran. It was one of the best cities we visited. The Grand Canyon was magnificent, there was snow everywhere, which made it really beautiful, though we didn't expect all the snow, and were not really prepared for that, and as a result, got very cold... I think next time we need to go in the Summer.
Vegas was pretty good, but after a while we got a little over it. There's only so much you can do, and so many times you can walk up and down the strip. I am not really into gambling, so didn't really do much of that, and as a result, I actually came out of Vegas ahead! I got lucky on a card game (it was pure luck not skill I assure you) and decided to quit while I was ahead, whilst my friend didn't and he ended up losing his money. We also drank quite a significant amount while there too, it was very cheap to drink, and drink a lot. We also saw Cirque du Soleil - Beatles Love, which was totally awesome!
LA was interesting, the second night we were there, they had a live car chase, which we'd never seen before. They don't televise those over here, so that was an interesting experience. They kept playing it over and over too. While in LA, we went to Disney, 6 Flags and did some shopping. 6 Flags was fantastic, they have the best roller coasters there, and we had a lot of fun. Disney, was as expected, and loads of fun as well. We also did a bit of clubbing. Also, all the clubs close at 2am! From 1pm, no more alcohol, and then at 2, it's all done and dusted. The clubs were interesting though... There were a few things that we saw, especially with the Gogo Dancers and what people were doing to (or with) them, which we'd not witnessed anywhere else which gave us a bit of a shock.
In San Fran, we went to Alcatraz, did a lot of shopping, a lot of walking, sign seeing, and a lot of clubbing. We made a few friends there too. Tim was able to see his boy, so he was very happy. It also gave Mike and I a chance to get to know one another better, as we didn't really know much about each other previously.
Seattle was good as well, we went to the Space Needle, which was great, and Tim and I had dinner up there. The weird think was, they wouldn't accept our ID's as Proof of Age, whereas everywhere else did. We went to a massive market that was across from where we were staying, right on the water. It was great, really nice area, and we had decent weather too. We didn't do much else in Seattle, as there isn't a whole lot of touristie things that one can do there... We did go clubbing though.
In Vancouver, we didn't do much as it was raining most of the time that we were there. It was funny though, as when we were getting our tickets (in Seattle), the guy behind the counter was a bit rude, until we mentioned that we had been to one of the gay clubs, and he immediately became more friendly, and talkative. He then suggested a club that we could go to while in Vancouver. It was really good, good music, and good crowd.
One thing about everywhere we went, they all loved Aussies! While out clubbing, we would get hit on for our accents, which was great for me since I was single, but Mike and technically Tim at that stage were not single. We stuck together for most of it though, although a few times I did go off on my own, but made sure they knew were I was going.
Overall, it was an awesome trip, and I want another holiday soon!
In other news, work is really busy, and going quite well. I am still enjoying it, and there is still plenty of work to do, so it's never boring. We've got some new customers recently, and are doing a major project for them, and have been having a lot of meetings and such too. I have also begun Monthly Service Management Meetings with all the clients I deal with, to go over things that happened throughout the month, and how the customer is feeling about them, if they want to make changes, if they have any upcoming plans they wish to discuss, and general things like that. They've been successful and a lot of good things have come out of the meetings.
I've also seen some good movies recently.
Last night Tim and I saw Star Trek in Directors Suite, which was the best Trek movie I have ever seen. I think they'll gain fans from this movie, and even if people aren't fans and they go see t, they'll think it's a good movie. It was very well written, and it did a great job at rewriting a bit of the history while at it. I think I will go and see it again just to get some of the things that I might've missed. There was a lot to take in, and they didn't rely on the action scenes and the graphics to make it a good movie either, the dialog and storyline was brilliant.
I also saw Wolverine recently too, which was alright, but not as good as I was hoping it to be. I think a lot of people are feeling that way about it though. It just left me wanting a bit more. It was still a good movie though. I think it relied heavily on the action scenes though, and Hugh Jackman to carry it through.
Aside from that, and stuff I either can't remember, or isn't really that interesting, not much else has been happening... I'm still single, though I recently dated a guy for a short while. I am a little bit over being single now - it's been well over 2 years; though that was initially partly by choice for a while (for obvious reasons). That's not to say that I am desperate though, I'm not, but a bit tired of the single life. There are a couple of guys that I am interested in, and I am seeing this coming week - though am not sure if it's a date, or not... Guess I will find out soon enough.
Also, Happy Mothers day to all mothers out there!

19 days until I go on holidays! YAY. I can't wait. America (and Canada - for the whole 2 days we're there) is going to be great. We're going to Seattle, San Fran, Vegas, LA and Vancouver. Tim and I are going to book all of our tours next weekend (Mike is basically doing what he's told haha) so that there shouldn't be any worries in being able to get in. The last thing we want is to get there and go to book a tour only to find out that it's booked out. I've been keeping an eye on the weather lately too, and I hope it warms up just a little. I don't mind the cold, and I'll pack plenty of warm clothes, and I know it's winter over there at the moment, but I'd love to make some use of the pool at the hotel in Vegas. I should probably start packing soon too, get it all sorted. I can pack all the winter clothes since we're having shorts weather almost every day, and I only have to wear a suit to work when visiting clients, which this week is only twice, and on the cooler days. Usually, it's rare I visit any, but I've recently been instigating some new procedures, and I've decided that we should have Monthly Service Management meetings with the customers I deal with on a regular basis. It'll be a great way to get feedback on the service we provide, their ideas of how we can improve it, and changes they'd like us to make (which in turn we can charge for, thus gaining more business).
While on the subject of work; it's been very busy over the Christmas period, we've got 2 major projects on the go, and are hoping to get a few more in. I am also doing some training so that while I am gone, there is someone there who can do my job - because at the moment, I am the only one who knows how. In a way that's also a good thing, I've made myself a valuable member of the company, and they appreciate the amount of work that I do. What's even better is my boss has said on several occasions that I've "exceeded his expectations". It's really quite fulfilling to hear something like that. So, in short, I'm still really happy in my job.
I also can't believe how long it's been since I've even looked here... I just run out of time lately I guess. One thing more: Happy New Year! This is my first post for the year... I can't believe how quickly it's going. I hope everyone had a great break, and an awesome holiday period. Those of us who worked through - I know how you feel, but I'm sure your work places appreciated it.
I had a great Christmas and New Year. For New Years I went to a friends party, and dressed up as a Vampire. It turned out only two of us went to the trouble of dressing up, but that was alright. We got some great photos from the night. It was really good to catch up with the guys though, for some of them I hadn't seen in months.
Christmas was a casual affair, my family went to my Grandmothers for afternoon tea, but it was mainly a quiet day. We went to midnight mass - which for me is one of the only times I actually go, and being gay, technically the Catholic church does not even want me in the congregation - and we opened presents when we got back home. This meant that Christmas eve was a long, long day, as I'd worked from 6am, and we go to bed about 2am! All in all though, we had a really good time.
The work Christmas party was good too. We went on a river cruise down the Yarra. Although it was mostly past Docklands, which has some amazing machinery, these big monsters of cranes, and massive container ships that I hadn't seen up this close before, it was a really good night. We had dinner on the boat and danced to some music. I also went to the NLC Christmas party, which was a really awesome night. It was the "Roaring 20's" theme, so I dressed as a gangster. I had a full black suit, with a black tie, black hat and a silk scarf, and a fake gun. I could've blended into the darkness with all that on. I was luck because Dad had the scarf and tie, and I already had the rest. We went to Champions, which is in Fed Square. It was such a beautiful place. We had cocktails on arrival, and there was cocktail food that came around. The food was spectacular. We were also given "NLC Cash" to gamble away in the traditional Roaring 20's style. It was a shame when the night ended, but it was one of the best Christmas parties I've been to.
I've had an awesome weekend this weekend too. Last night some friends were down from Sydney, so a whole group of us caught up and went to Xchange. It was a lot of fun, we took plenty of photos, and danced the night away. It's always better when there's a big group of us too, we can mix and mingle and you can catch up with everyone. The only bad thing was that the night went too quickly. The people from Sydney were heading back up today as well.
Today I went rock climbing which was really fun. It's very exhausting though. I went with some friends I know through one of the girls at Paragon. I'm hoping to do this more often too, it's a lot of fun, and a great physical workout!
I recently went and saw Twilight which I quite enjoyed. I'd love to read the book, and am currently reading the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, so as soon as I have finished them, I'll have to start the Twilight series. It was quite a good movie, although from what others have told me, the book is much better - as is usually the case with books turned into movies.
There's also been a few birthdays lately. My sisters is coming up, I'll get back from America just in time, my parents meanwhile will not be in the country for it, as the are heading to New Zealand. My sister doesn't want a party anyway, so that's alright. I'll get her something from America, make it that much more special, especially if you can't get it in Australia. So, my American friends, what can I get from America, for a 21 year-old girl? I have no clue...
What a week! Well, the last few weeks have been crazy. I have worked all weekend unfortunately, but, have been given next Friday off as compensation, so I get a three day weekend which'll be good.
It's also just under 7 weeks until I leave for America! I can't wait. It's going to be an amazing trip. Accommodation is all booked now too! Funnily enough V Australia rang Tim up last week and told him they canceled our flights as they are not flying to LA in Feb any more, and booked us on Qantas instead. We now leave earlier, and are not going via Sydney, so we arrive earlier as well, which is good. It gives us a few extra hours, especially if the Airport is busy.
Work is going pretty well lately, it's always busy, and the weeks are still flying by. I am looking forward to a few days off around Christmas. Especially since I have a 4 day week this week (even though it's on the end of 11 days straight...), followed by a 3 day week (for Christmas), and then another 4 day week (for the new year).
I also went and bought a LCD TV (Full HD) late last week which was delivered on Wednesday. I got an amazing deal on it, over 50% off. It's 42", and I can't believe how good digital TV looks. I've never had a TV in my room before, let alone digital. I didn't have an aerial port, so I bought a digital aerial for it as well, which also receives analogue, but I doubt I'll go back to that now. I don't watch much TV anyway, I got it mainly for watching DVD's, or putting the computer through it, or for when I decide to get a Playstation 3, which won't be for a while.
I went and saw the latest Bond film last week for Tim's birthday which was pretty good. It wasn't like the other Bond films, which isn't a bad thing, it's good to keep things different, otherwise they might get too repetitive. We also went for dinner at TGI Friday's which was good. I met a few new people, and caught up wth a couple that I hadn't seen in quite a long time.
Friday night was the NLC Christmas party. I was invited by Janelle. It was an awesome night. We went to Champions at Federation Square. It was a Cocktail party, and the food was amazing. Granted it was all finger food, it doesn't matter, there was so much. It had a Roaring 20's theme to it, so I dressed up in complete black. Black shoes, socks, pants, shirt, tie, jacket, silk scarf, and hat. I also had the dark sunnies, and a fake gun, so I looked very Mafia-esqe. We even had gambling tables, where we were given NLC Money to gample, and then place bids on items for a silent auction. Janella, myself and another girl won a Ham! I think we get it on Monday. I think a lot of people there thought that Janelle and I were a couple, and I am unsure if Janelle likes me in that way, though I do hope not. I'd hate to break her heart. I'm sure she knows I'm not straight, or at least, I hope so. Maybe I should tell her...
Anyway, it's the GSN Christmas party this coming Thursday (which is why I wanted Friday off - I've wrangled it quite well), which should be good. I think we are going on a river cruise. It'll be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it.
Since I haven't done one in a little while...

I can't believe it's been this long sine I posted. I really need to try to keep track of time more...
It's been a hectic past few weeks, both work wise, and personal wise.
I just turned 24 as well, and had a few people come out for dinner with me on Wednesday, and on Tuesday (my actual birthday), Mum and Dad took me to a French restaurant that I'd been wanting to try. It was awesome, really nice food. I didn't have a huge birthday dinner on Wednesday, about 12 or so people, just close friends really. It was a great night, although I didn't get home until after midnight, and then had to get up for work at 6am, so I was a little tired on Thursday! I got some great stuff as well. Mum and Dad got me Star Wars Force Unleashed for the Wii, and my sister got me the Within Temptation Black Symphony DVD which is of their live concert in Holland. I also got some new shoes from a couple of friends which was good, as I really needed them. Tim got me a wonderful perfume; Intimately Beckham, which smells really good. From other friends I got a bottle of Bubbly, a cute teddy, box of chocolates, and a foam missile thing that I can put on my work desk.
Tim celebrated his birthday yesterday, but as he was unable to get the day off work, we ended up going clubbing to xChange last night and had a few drinks with him, and then in a couple of weeks, we'll have the proper birthday celebrations. It was a good night last night, I went with a friend of mine, Simon. We were the first to arrive, and the last to leave. I got home just as Mum was getting up for work.
Work is busy as usual which is good. I lose track of the weeks sometimes. I've been at GSN for almost 5 months now. Only 1 more week to go until 5 months! I'm still really enjoying it, and they're really happy with how I am going, which is good to know. We're having our reviews hopefully this week too.
I've also seen Max Payne recently. It was good, but a little disappointing, I was expecting more from it.
This week Tim and I are going to work out accommodation for America. It was a touch choice, but since we are not going to get any money back if we cancel flights, we've decided to bite the bullet and go. It's going to be bad with the exchange rate, as we'll lose around 40% to it. As of tonight, $1AU gets us all of 0.63US. This world financial crisis sucks, and since it's world wide, I wonder if it will recover... If it does, how long will it take? I think the losses are currently in the multi-trillions worldwide. Money just seems to vanish. All the governments billion dollar injections are gone a few weeks after. It's terrible. I feel sorry for those who've lost money on the Sharemarket too.
We're also having the most bizarre weather lately. Queensland has had massive flooding, over 350,000 lightning strikes hit in just ONE DAY, and they've had over 250ml of rain over the last few days. Here in Melbourne (Victoria), we had more than our average November rainfall in just 1 day, and below average temperatures all weekend. The temperature has been hovering around 16-18 which is quite cold for late Spring, and it's supposed to be Summer in a week too. It's also been snowing up in the alps! It never snows this late in the year!
A meme, because I haven't done one in a while: This is taken from dolce_cantabile Open the nearest book to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence on that page, and also the next two to five sentences. The CLOSEST BOOK, NOT YOUR FAVORITE, OR MOST INTELLECTUAL!
Of course, it didn't surprise me to hear that educated people didn't believe in God, that they were infinitely more interested in science, that the aristocracy was much in ill favour, and so was the Church. These were times of reason, not superstition, and the more he talked, the more I understood. Soon he was outlining the Enclyclopédie, the great compilation of knowledge supervised by Diderot. And then it was the salons he'd gone to, the drinking bouts, his evenings with actresses. He described the public balls at the Palais Royal, where Marie Antoinette appeared right along with the common people. The Vampire Lestat - by Anne Rice.
...are a lot of fun!
That's right, last night, I went to an alien themed birthday. It was a friends 30th, and him and his wife always do a theme; last night was Aliens. It was interesting to see how many people actually went to some trouble. I decided that I wanted to deviate form the traditional alien of being a little green man, and so I decided to design my own. I've created a user pic, which is a little hard to see unfortunately. I can't seem to link to Facebook either, so if anyone has me on Facebook, you'll be able to see! Those who don't, and would like to, please feel free to add me.
I covered my face with blue paint, and had dark lines drawn around the sides of my face and neck. There were a few others that put in a lot of effort as well. We had Emperor Ming (from Flash if anyone remembers that movie), an Kazoo (a little green man that hovers around people annoying them), and a few others with make-up and stuff on them.
The most interesting part was driving to the party... I was wondering how funny it would be should the police be doing breath testing and had they pulled me over. As it was, there were a number of people who stared, some pulling up next to my car to take a closer look.
It was a great night though. They put on a bbq for us and supplied drinks. The nights are getting quite warm too, so we were all outside. I was lucky, the blue paint must've made the mossies afraid to bite me, as I didn't get bitten once, though others got bitten a number of times.
Today I did the thousand steps in Ferntree Gully. I hadn't been since they re-opened, and though it'd be good to go back again. Nick, Beatie, a friend of Beatie's and I all went up together. It's a great walk, and very good if you want to do cardio.
The past week has also been pretty busy with work stuff, so much so that, I didn't realise it was Friday when it actually came around... We also got drawers this week too. They were delivered from Ikea. They were hard to put together! Some of them just clip in, but others, you've got to force them in, screw in the screws which sometimes just won't go in properly... All fun and games, but now I have a place to put things rather than making my desk messy.
And now for a meme which I stole off dolce_cantabile

It's been, what, 3 weeks since my last post... It's insane where the time goes these days.
First of all, I've reached three months (well, a little over now) at GSN, and am still loving it. There's the odd annoyance, as there is with any job, but on the whole, it's challenging, and fun. I can't stand a job where I'm not challenged or where I'm presented with the same repetitive monotonous (even something you initially enjoy can become monotonous if you do it enough) work day in, day out. This is why GSN is so different. It's a new thing every week, something different, new things to learn, even the odd problems that crop up.
I've been pushing to get Sharepoint up and running properly. We need a better CMS and our current Wiki is pathetic to say the least. With Sharepoint, we can build in access controls, version control, as well as a host of other cool features. I've been given some admin control on how we set it up becuase of my previous experience with it at Paragon. We'll be doing a bit of work on it this week.
The last few weeks have also been quite busy. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Godskitchen. It was on Saturday, an all night (9pm - 7am) music festival. I went with Jason and Barti, and a couple of other friends were there as well, and they came and joined us. It was a great night, although by the end of it, we were exhausted. We ended up leaving around 6:45am to beat the rush of thousands of people leaving at 7am. It was funny because on the way there, we needed our sunnies, as we went early, had dinner and drinks before the festival, and then the sun was up already when we left. It was an interesting night too. There were a lot of people who were sucking on lollipops, which I soon realised was because they had taken something, and it was to stop then grinding their teeth, and keep them salivating. I even had one person try to offer me cocaine, and then try to justify to me why he was on it... Frankly, I don't care, I wasn't going to have anything, and it's not my business why someone else is taking anything. There was quite a lot of smoking as well, despite it being inside, and smoking being prohibited. Jason drove me back to his house where I had my car, and I went home from there, getting home around 8:45am. I couldn't sleep, but mid afternoon I had a "Nanna nap" and dozed for a bit. On Sunday afternoon it was my friend Nick's birthday, so I headed out with him and some friends for a some dinner. I left early to get a good night sleep, as I was knackered by the end of Sunday. Surprisingly on Monday I was alright, a little tired, but otherwise I pulled up well for having no sleep on Saturday.
There has been a bit of drama as well, with Mum going to emergency after getting a handle flung up and hitting her in the throat, almost crushing her larynx. She was lucky, a centimeter either way, and she would have needed surgery. Instead, she just had a bruise and a bit of a dint where the handle hit (which has since gone).
Tim also broke his radius bone (near the elbow joint) while bike riding. It was partially his own fault, as he was riding without a light at night, and hit a tree root. At least he was wearing a helmet. He isn't in plaster which surprised me, but it's good for him because with the hotter weather, the last thing anyone wants is plaster down to their hand! He's not in too much pain now though which is good, and it seems to be healing nicely.
Tim and I also went and saw Eagle Eye. It was fantastic! I took him as part of taking his mind off his arm (as it was the day after, so he was still in quite a bit of pain). The movie had a few twists, and was very well written. I don't want to give away the plot, save to say (and this will only make sense if you have either seen it, heard about it, or seen the trailer), if you see it, you'll be quite surprised as who the woman on the other end of the phone is!
Last weekend, it was my friend Geoff's birthday. It was a good night. I met some new people and got to catch up with others. There were plans to play games, but it didn't really happen. We played a few on the Wii, but mostly sat and talked the whole night. There was a lot of very interesting conversations, a few drunk people saying things that were not making a lot of sense, or just making crude gestures. Ahh, the joy of having to drive (well, sometimes...) and remember it all the next day for the other persons "benefit". You can relay all the stories!
It was also my cousins birthday as well. We had a family do at my Aunt and Uncles house, which was alright. I spent most of the time talking to my Uncle and enjoying some wine and food.
It was my Mothers birthday yesterday as well. It's a month full of birthdays! Mum and Dad had gone away for a couple of days out at Rutherglen. They had an amazing time and didn't want to come back. They also bought a lot of fortified wine, which is very nice!
Yesterday, the weather was simply superb. It was quite warm, and later in the afternoon the sun shone brightly. I took the dog for a nice long walk in the morning to tire him out a bit, and then did a 40min jog a bit later. The rest of the day until Mum and Dad got back were spent mostly in the sun relaxing and enjoying it.
Last night I went to Xchange, and met some friends there. It started out well, although I was there on my own for a bit, until my friend Dan turned up. Then, we saw some of his friends that I didn't know, but started talking to anyway, and then Dan disappeared, and we decided to go for a walk. We weren't gone long, and after we came back. Tim also came with his friend Casey, and he introduced us all to her. The night slowly turned into a not-so-good night (for a few reasons, one being that I narrowly avoided mass embarrassment by flirting a little with one of the guys I'd gone walking with, until I found out he had a partner, and they'd been together for about 3 years... Whoops), and I was close to leaving and going home, but the night got better again. It may have been lucky that I didn't too, because at the very end of the night (when the club closed - around 3:15am), I exchanged numbers with a guy I met there who was there with a friend of mine. I was considering leaving around midnight-ish before I decided to stay, and I only stayed because my friend Dan asked me to. We ended up dancing in a big group, as some other friends of mine also turned up, Rhett included who had friends that were down from Adelaide and Sydney. We danced for the next few hours, it's a great workout dancing all this time! Before I knew it, the club was getting quieter, as they started playing the last few songs of the night. So, it did turn out to be a good night in the end.
Today I didn't really do very much. I wanted to have a relaxing day, and just take it easy. I had a good sleep in and just lazed about for the most part. My grandparents visited this afternoon as well which was good. It's always good to catch up with them.
I think that's about it... Already a couple of times I've gone back over this entry and add some stuff, so hopefully once I post it, I don't remember that I've forgotten to add something...
And it's Sunday once again. Where do these weeks go? Where do the months go? When I was younger, I used to think that time went so slowly, it would seem like ages until the weekend again, or until school holidays, and although the two weeks we'd have off between terms seemed to go by quickly (although the Summer holidays were wonderfully long), I don't remember them ever going by this quickly. I guess it comes with age, the older you get, the faster time goes. It only seems like a few weeks ago, I was planning my trip to America with Tim, and we were saying how the 9 month wait seemed like forever, and now there's only a little over 4 months to go until we leave (speaking of which, we better book our accommodation...). Time is all relative, a perception. To a child, a year seems like an eternity, to an adult, a year is but a fraction of the time they've lived. To me, one year amid almost 24, is significant, but not a great deal; to my father a year seems even less significant, what is one amongst 51? But then to my grandparents, a year might actually bear high significance, even if it doesn't seem like a long time to them. While on the topic of time, my three months review for work is on this Tuesday. Therein lies another example of how fast time goes. I can't believe it's been three months already. I know they'll keep me on, otherwise they would've gotten rid of me by now, and not given me business cards.
Work has been pretty busy during the week, and it's going to be another busy one, which will make it go quickly I am sure. Virgin got me those test numbers!! They came through late on Friday, just before I headed home, so I said I'd look at them on Monday, and do all the testing then. Although the numbers were well over a week late, we finally have them, and testing can commence, so I am happy about that. I thanked them for their hard work, and effort as I know they'd had some trouble too.
Friday night, I headed out to Cosmo with Beatie to see the band, which was good. After that, I went back to Beatie's house, and her brother was getting rid of some clothes that he didn't want anymore. The thing is, some of these still had their tags on... He'd never worn them, but said they didn't fit, so was happy to be able to get rid of them. I got 4 very nice shirts which I can wear out, most of them casual, and one that's very formal.
On Saturday, I went and saw WallE! It was really good. My friend had Gold Class upgrade which was awesome. For the same price as a normal ticket, we got Gold Class, so who can go wrong with that! I do recommend the movie too, it might seem like a kids movie, but there's some good morals there, underlying morals, that kids probably won't pick up. After the movie, my friend and I met up with another guy, and we headed to dinner. We went to a vegetarian restaurant, which had 'meat', which was made from soy products. The texture is a bit different, and in some cases - such as pork - the taste is different, but it was very nice. I headed home after that, and got ready to head out again. I went to Xchange, third week in a row, which is very unusual for me. I didn't actually know if anyone was going, so it was quite random for me to head out without knowing if I will run into anyone. I ran into a number of people I knew though. I saw a couple of friends, who tend to be regular club goers, as well as a guy I went to high school with, who recognised me at once, and I barely recognised him. He even remembered my name! He was the year above me. I don't think I have changed a lot in those years... I then ran into a guy I went to uni with which was good. A couple of other friends turned up a bit later, and so I hung around with them for a bit. I then started talking to a random guy during a drag show, which was nice. He seemed like a nice guy, but before anyone wonders, I didn't get his number, although I probably should've tried looking back on it, but alas, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I saw another one of my friends during the course of the night, and so talked with him for a bit also. I danced a fair bit too, which is always fun. It's a good workout, dancing half the night! I was surprised I saw so many people I knew too. I should do it more often, go on a whim, and see who I run into. I don't like going alone though, which is the only problem. I had tried to ask Rhett to come along, however he had a friend down and wasn't sure if he was going to go out.
Today, I didn't do a lot, slept in as I go home around 3:30am, and relaxed.
I hope everyone is well, and has a great week, and had a great weekend!
Now for a meme that I promised insignificantxx I'd put up here: If you're on my friends list, I want to know 36 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine ... you're on my list, so I want to know you better! Comment here and repost a blank one on your own journal.

I now have business cards! Although, I am sure after a while I will be wanting to just get rid of them (since I have 1000 of them), but in the meantime it's a bit exciting. I've never had them before, not even in 2 years (almost) of working at Paragon did I get them, and a little after 2 months at GSN, I get them.
Work this week was pretty good too. The lady I was dealing with at Virgin went away for a couple of days and gave me the details of another lady there, who was supposed to have our testing numbers by Thursday. The thing is, I e-mailed her Thursday, Friday morning, rang Friday afternoon, and e-mailed again Friday evening. I have heard nothing from her. Someone else from Virgin called us, and asked for the terminating number so they can transfer calls from their IVR to the one I wrote, but I told them I can't give that to them (not only am I not sure what it is), because we need the test numbers first. We also have no PO (Purchase Order) yet, so, we can't process anything. With no PO, we're not going to go live. Oh well, hopefully we hear from them on Monday.
On Thursday I went and saw Wicked! It was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I met up with Tim for dinner first, we went to TGIF, because we had a half price voucher there, so we got the most expensive thing on the menu, and then only paid half price (it ended up costing us about $20 each) which was great. We then made our way to the theatre. We were in the Dress Circle, which is a little higher, although it's good because you can see the entire stage, whereas in the stalls you can't always see everything. I knew some of the songs, because I've been to xChange a few times, and they put on the drag show for Wicked, which is always really good, but you'd be surprised at how you pick up all the songs, and then recognise them. Tim and I were joking about how we knew them and how much xChange were like it (although, they put their own spin on it of course). It finished around 11pm, and I was home around 12:30 or so. I was a bit tired on Friday, but oh well, it was worth it!
On Friday, after work we went out for a few drinks to celebrate holding the reigns of the office while the big bosses are away overseas. Although, the big boss paid for the night out! We asked first though, we just didn't go and use his credit card without him knowing. I was good, we had a few drinks, and a bite to eat, before heading home. At the station I ran into Rimas, who I hadn't seen in quite some time, but who lives very close to me. We took the same train home and chatted, and I offered him a lift home, as it was on the way. He ended up inviting me in, and his boyfriend came round, and we all talked and watched some TV for the next 5 or so hours. It was good to catch up with them again. Seeing as they both live so close, Rimas down the road, and his boyfriend Matt around the corner, we should do it more often.
On Saturday night, it was my friend Rachels 22nd birthday. She wanted to go to xChange, she feels safer there because she knows the guys aren't going to come and try to hit on her all night or anything. I brough my friend Rhett along as well, we got there before everyone else, so I was glad I was with someone, I don't like being at a club on my own, it doesn't feel right. It was a pretty good night, we stayed until they closed, which is between 3 and 3:30am. The night went so quickly. Rhett and I were talking most of the night, and danced a bit with the others that were there, and especially when they were playing some really good songs.
Today I mostly relaxed, sat outside in the sun and read a book and played some Wii Fit.

It's been a pretty good week this week. Work is busy as always, and the bosses are currently in Europe seeing if we can expand there. I hope that we do, because that gives the opportunity for international travel which would be awesome. This week mostly consisted of doing Virgin Mobile's IVR application, which I am still waiting on some assistance with their web interface application that doesn't seem to work... They want the IVR live by Tuesday, yet, can't help me until Monday, giving them a great deal less time to test it, and make any changes. I also have not yet received the recordings for the announcements, so have resorted to speech synthesis for the moment. The good thing is, it doesn't sound like a robot voice, it's fairly natural, you just need to make sure punctuation is put in lots of places that you wouldn't normally put it!
On Friday I had to go to the doctors for an MRI. I was in the MRI machine for about 2 hours. I had scans without Contrast, then scans with Contrast. My arm looks like it was attacked though, the mark left by the needle. The one thing I absolutely hate is the feeling of a needle just sticking out of my arm, it's fine for blood donating, it's different then, but for this, apart from being in there a lot longer than my regular blood donation time (<8 min usually), it's so much more uncomfortable. It's also quite hard to lie still for such a long time, in this cramped machine, not being able to listen to anything (because the scans were of my brain and spine, so no headphones allowed) except the sounds it makes (which are quite loud!). I guess it's lucky I've learnt to relax my entire body and mind so I sort of drift in a kind of meditation state. It makes it go quicker (and has actually put me to sleep once or twice while I'm in the MRI!), and the noise seems to fade away a bit. It's hard to explain, but yeah, I've had that many MRI's now, I know what to expect I suppose.
It's also been a great weekend. Friday night I went out with the old gang from Paragon (and my friend Rhett joined us), and we saw The Mummy 3. It was really good, very impressive. I had missed all of them as well, and we didn't pass up the chance to give one another crap. It started almost right away, the jokes flying back and forth. I was saying that it'd been ages since we've been able to do it, so we had to make up for the lost time. I really do miss the people though, it's always so good to catch up, and we always have an amazingly good night, mainly due to the fact that we each give as good as we get (with regards to giving one another crap), we can laugh about it, and none of it is meant in a harmful or insulting way. After the movie, we grabbed a very late dinner. After that, Jen, Rhett, Jason and I spent the next 30-odd minutes talking in the car park. It was such a nice night, not even cold. Jen took Rhett and I back to the station, and when we got back to the station I had parked at, I drove Rhett home.
On Saturday I saw Nick and Beatie in the afternoon. It was a lovely day, the sun was shinning, there was a nice breeze (which did actually turn into quite a gale - but the sun was awesome). We had a good afternoon, they played a short gig at this little cafe.
Saturday night, I ended up going to XChange with some friends on a late minute thing. It was about 10:15pm when I left home to go. I went there with Tim, Loky and his partner, and then a whole lot of others were there a bit later as well which was good. It ended up being quite a late night. The club shuts around 3am, although it was about 3:30-ish when they finally kicked everyone out. By the end of it though, I barely had a voice left, mainly due to having some kind of throat infection and being very tired I think. I was losing it most of the day. I drove Tim home, we had a bit of a D&M, he's feeling a bit down at the moment, and I think he's progressively getting worse, so I was trying to cheer him up. The thing is though, like me, he bottles a lot up inside, and you can't always tell when he's feeling depressed until he has been drinking a little, and then it comes out. There are a few tell-tale signs I've noticed with him, but usually when I ask him how he is, and what he's feeling, he generally says all is well. I do the same thing though. I think sometimes, and it depends on the circumstances, it can be harder to talk to people that you're really close with, and a lot easier to talk to someone you don't know so well (such as a psychologist). We couldn't talk for long because both of us were very tired, and he had to get up for work, and I needed to sleep and attempt to retrieve my voice from the depths of somewhere. I got home about 4:35am, Mum was awake and getting ready for work, although I had messaged her to let her know I may not be home when she got up for work. I slept in until about 10am, so only about 5 hours sleep, but I felt alright.
Today, I went and bought a DVD, and used the last of my JB HiFi voucher from my Paragon farewell. Other than that I relaxed and had a pretty crusie day.

That's right folks - it's the end of Winter today - at least in Australia anyway - and it's been the coldest winter in 10 years, with the best snow falls in 10 years as well. Although I didn't go to the snow this year, (haven't been for ages actually - but something to look forward to when I go to Canada early next year) I hear it was fantastic. The good thing is when all that melts, the water storage's will go up significantly.
My Dad's birthday was quite recent, and we got him a Wii! He was stoked, and has been playing Wii Fit quite a lot (as it told him he was overweight and made his Wii character bigger). It's a lot of fun though, I've been getting into it a couple of times over the weekend. Dad and I are in competition to try and get the highest scores on the mini games. It's good because you don't realise how much you actually work off while doing it.
Anyway, it's been another very busy week. There's a lot of things to get done at work, and the IVR for Virgin needs to be done by Tuesday. It might involve a little extra work, but I think I'll get there. I had few troubles on Friday, and I then realised I had overlooked something that should've been obvious to me, but (and my boss took total blame which surprised me) because I didn't really know what I was looking for I missed it until near the end of Friday when my boss gave me the code which as soon as I saw *headlsap* "Of course, I should've realised this!". Ahh well, while I was having issues and trying to work it out, I began work on another part of the project and finished that so it wasn't time wasted. Friday also marked my 2 months in my new job! The time has flown by. It doesn't feel like 2 months has gone since I started. I've learnt so much in that time too.
This weekend has been pretty good, and quite productive. I finally decided I cannot put off getting a Cholesterol test any longer, since the doctor told me I should get it checked since everyone in my family seems to get it. I get the results to that this Tuesday or Wednesday, though I'm not particularly worried, I'm pretty healthy, I eat healthy, I work out often and consider myself to be quite fit, so hopefully genetics can be thwarted! I then went and claimed the doctors visit from Medicare and got some money back. I bought some clothes as well, and my Grandparents came over to visit. This was all done Saturday morning too!
Saturday night I went out with some friends on a Ghost Tour! I had no idea how many haunted places within walking distance of each other there are right in the city. It was a great history lesson, and the eeriness was increased due to the howling wind and the fact we were walking down dark deserted laneways half of us never knew existed. We didn't see any ghosts, but all the same, it was really good. Afterwards, a few people went off clubbing, and the rest of us went for a quite bite to eat for desert (since it was about 11:30pm by this stage). We ended up leaving just after midnight. The train got packed, as the footy was on, and people went for celebratory drinks after their team won. That, and it was the last home and away game for the year, we're now onto the finals. It was probably lucky it was so loud, else I may have fallen asleep like the drunk person opposite me resting on his wife who was doing her best to get comfortable.
Today I went with Mum and Dad to a friend of the family for lunch which was good. We got through 3 bottles of wine between 4 of us, though that was over the space of about 4 hours as well. It was a great day though. This weekend has gone by far too quickly unfortunately...
This week is going to be pretty busy too. On Monday I am going to a going-away party for a friend who is going to Europe for 7 weeks, so that should be a good send off for him. Tuesday night there is a work function; we are going bowling... Lawn bowling... It'll be interesting, I've never done that before, so it should be good. We're doing it with the other company that we share the office with, and it's sort of like a welcome and get-to-know-one-another for all the new people - which, now is only me. Thursday night I am going out with Jason and Barti for dinner and drinks as well! Nothing is planned - yet - for the coming weekend, but I'm sure something spur-of-the-moment will arise, if not earlier.
Anyway, I think that pretty much sums up everything. Overall a very busy, but very good and fulfilling week. I hope everyone has a great week this week!

It's that time of week again! I didn't realise it'd been 2 weeks since my last entry... Lately I have been losing track of it all. It just goes by so quickly these days!
It's been a busy last couple of weeks. I've finally seen The Dark Knight! It was amazing, and I absolutely loved it! At least, now I can say that I've seen it. Most of it's already been said, so I won't repeat the same things as everyone else, but suffice it to say, the characters were great, very well done, and I would definitely see it again.
Work is still very busy. G-Force was good last week, but hellishly busy. At least that's over. Education Day was the most boring thing I've done in a long time... It was 8 hours of lectures... I never even had that at uni! The day after that I went to a couple of seminars, one from the NAB and one from the ATO. Both were actually quite interesting. They're introducing new IVR systems that have ASR which is good. It'll be interesting to see how people go with the Speech Recognition area. I look forward to it all.
I think we got a few more prospective customers which is good. We've signed a couple more deals as well.
Our newly recruited Solutions Engineer is quitting, he got a Research position at Monash Uni, which he's taken. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I'm really happy for him. They've now asked me if I can move more into the development side of our speech systems, which I'm very much looking forward to!
Last week was a friends joint birthday/farewell party. It was a great night, there were a lot of people there, so it was great to mingle. It was a late night, I got home around 4am or so, but I had an awesome time. There were some great photos.
On Thursday night, Tim and I worked out all our flights internally for America. We've booked them and they've also been paid for! Now all we have to do is organise accommodation. I am so excited! It's not for another 4 and a bit months, but it's going to come around very quickly.
On Friday night I went to a friends surprise 21st. It was a good night, although I couldn't stay too late as I had to get the train home. I only knew a few people at the party, but it's always good to meet new people. The best thing was, the guy had no idea anything was planned, so when he arrived to see us all there, he was stoked. On the way home, I got a cab to the train station, the cab driver first didn't know the way, and made me get out his Melways and look it up, and then took me the wrong way, despite me saying that he was going the wrong way. I wasn't very happy at this. It made me miss the train and I had to wait about 25min for the next one.
I went and saw Wanted last night with Tim also. It was pretty good, some nice special effects and stuff. I don't know that I could go and see it again though. Maybe on DVD one day. It was also quite a violent movie. On the way back to Tim's place, after finally getting a cab, the cab driver receives a call on his phone, and then actually proceeded to answer it! To make it worse, he then ran a red light. I've taken down his driver number and will be ringing and making a complaint, because that's just not on.
Nothing much else has really been happening lately. Things are running pretty smoothly for the most part, it's also a pretty busy time of year. On a whole, I'm enjoying life and things are going well.

It's been a busy week, and interesting week and it's flown!
Work this week was very busy, and made the week fly by, I still don't know where the days go. We've got another busy week ahead this week, I get to analyse Virgin Mobile activation stats and make recommendations for their IVR to make it better. Then I get to help them make it better, which is where I get to do the development, which will be fun. It's just the analysis which isn't the most fun, but oh well.
Friday night I went out to dinner with some people from Paragon, and a couple of others. We went to Maedaya Sake and Grill. It's a Japanese restaurant. It was awesome! We did the Japanese BBQ, which is where they bring us the raw food, and we cook it on a hotplate. This way, we can do it how we want, add our own sauces, and stuff. You order the ingredients you want as well, so you can have whatever you want in it. I had so much! It filled me up for the entire night, and most of Saturday! It was a great experience to do that. I'd done similar things at a Korean BBQ restaurant, as well as for a Chinese New Year a couple of times. I love it.
Last night I went to a friends birthday, and it was a very eventful night... The night started at Transit bar at Fed Square, which was pretty good, although the birthday girl was over 2 hours late! The cocktails there are pretty good, although, expensive... We left there around midnight, and headed to the Icon bar. This place was actually pretty good. I've never been there before. They played good music, and we danced a fair bit. We were there for most of the night, dancing, relaxing and stuff. There were a lot of people who were dancing on the bar which was interesting, although, no-one fell off which is a good thing. We stayed there for the rest of the night, and around 4am-ish, decided to head off, and get the Nightrider back home. We missed the first one, so decided to sit down at Maccas and wait for the next one. While we were there however, some guy came up to our table, and looking at our party hats, came, picked one up and asked us if he could wear it. We thought that was a little odd, and he tried to put it on, then walked away. We then saw the one of the girls mobile phones was missing. She went to have a look at the security footage, and it showed the guy who came up asking to wear a party hat, taking the phone. He was still there, so we got the cops called, and security kept an eye on him. The cops came down, and asked him a few questions, then they ended up taking him down to the station, and we had to go along to give statements and stuff. As he passed us, he called out "Why you'z lying?" and his girlfriend spat on us. Now, personally, I think that's absolutely filthy. Anyone, but especially girls, spitting on others, it's just disgusting, and feral. These two were real ferals too. Anyway, the cops dragged them to the station, and we followed. Whilst inside the station, there was a punch-on between a couple of people, and just about every cop in there was sprinting to stop them. It was pretty violent too, we could hear them crashing and throwing one another into things. After a little over 2 hours at the police station, we could leave. I got home around 7:20am. I am so tired!
Today was relaxing. I slept for only a couple of hours because I couldn't really sleep despite being so tired. I had second wind, and that kept me awake.
This Tuesday I am seeing Batman! I can't wait. I've been looking forward to this for ages. There's a lot of movies that I want to see too, so I should start seeing them before it's too late and I have to wait for DVD's.

I actually thought I posted last week... Apparently not. Whoops.
Anyway, Ice Skating was AWESOME! I had a great time, and only fell twice, thanks both times to people running into me. So, I didn't get too wet. It was very similar to Roller Skating (as opposed to Roller Blading) in that you move the same sort of way, just instead of the 4 wheels and a lot more to balance on, you're on a thin blade. It was hell on the ankles though. I felt that the following day!
I've now been at my new job for 4 weeks, and still loving it. It's very busy, and the weeks fly by, seriously, I don't know where they go. I'm getting used to their systems, and beginning to get a good grasp on most of it. It's a little hard going into a job, and being made the primary point of contact for some systems, but there's no documentation on those systems... I've written a huge amount of documentation the last 4 weeks.
Another great thing about this job, is that, they always thank their staff for their hard work. They use the right psychology, and everything is appreciated and nothing is taken for granted. I can see why their retention rate is so high. This is something I'm fairly unfamiliar with, as with Paragon, everything was taken for granted, and it was a very rare occasion for them to thank staff for their hard work. Although, their retention rate was very low!
Paragon have been calling me lately, they're having trouble with the billing, and want my help. I've helped them where I can, but now bills are almost 3 weeks late (they were supposed to be out by the 12th of July, and it's now almost August). With their latest issue, they ignored an obvious earlier problem (only 16 records were in the database, rather than 150,000+), and went straight to trying to generate bills and all bills came out with zero charges, and thus doing irreversible damage to the database. When they called me, I asked if they read the documentation, and the bit where it tells them that over 150,000 records should be in the database before they try to generate bills. They had read it, but didn't think it would matter. I told them that if it didn't matter, I wouldn't say that it did. Idiots... I said to contact the company who support our billing engine, and get them to guide them through a rollback, since I've never had to do that. They then said that I can just come in and help, to which I replied that I can't because obviously I work all week. They turned around and said I can come in on a weekend. I said that I'd charge if they wanted me in, no way am I worked for free to fix something they screwed up, and they said they'd get back to me. So far, they haven't. I don't expect them to. They won't be prepared to pay.
I recently got into Battlestar Galactica. It's really, really good. I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan anyway, and this show has drawn me in. It's got a great plot, and the characters are also very well written. It also isn't as far fetched as some of them can be (for example, they have nuclear weapons).
I recently finished a book called The Singularity is Near, by Ray Kurzweil. As a very broad overview, It discussed the future of technology. It was a fascinating insight, and if technology progresses the way Ray describes it will, it's going to be a very interesting future indeed, and I cannot wait. For example, he talks about nanobots that will be able to transport oxygen though our body, much more effectively (thousands of times more effectively) than our red blood cells can, and thus negating the need for us to require breathing, but "those who find breathing stimulating will still be able to do so if they wish". He talks about Quantum Computing, reverse engineering the human brain, downloading/uploading our consciousness into new "bodies", full-immersion virtual reality, having non-biological parts and living ten times longer than we do now. He also estimates that we'll be getting more of this sort of technology by the mid 2020's and early 2030's. I should point out, that this book was not a sci-fi book. He makes a point by saying the human body 2.0 will be around by the late 2030's. He also estimates that by 2019, $1,000 will buy a personal computer that has as much raw power as the human brain, which is about 1019 cps. Some of this might seem very far-fetched and like some kind of science fiction movie. I think some of the predictions might be off by a bit though, but who knows. To find out more, go to, this website or read the book! It's very interesting. Just be warned, that's it's highly scientific, and might be hard to understand at times.
I want to go and see the new Batman movie so badly! Everyone who's seen it raves. Hopefully, this week some time...

Ok, since it's been well over a month since my last post, I feel I should actually say something. I'm still alive, and things are going well.
I have a new job! I got out of Paragon, and am working at a place called Global Speech Networks. I am unsure of my job description, but I think it borderlines Solutions/Support Engineer. It's a lot of fun, and I've just finished my first two weeks there. It's quite different to Paragon, it's very casual, there's no uniform, basically just casual, and it's in the City - well South Melbourne to be more specific. The travel is a train, then a tram, but I don't mind. I save on fuel, and I get to relax on the way in, no traffic, and where I get on I always get a seat (except the tram), so that's great. I've got a lot to learn, but luckily, there are a lot of people there who know the systems, although there is some stuff that no-one knows, and they are asking me to work it out... That is a little hard, but I like the challenge.
My last 2 weeks at Paragon were not fun at all... I did a hell of a lot of documentation, and crap like that. They just dragged on and on. It took a while to get out of there, but I'm glad I finally did. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. People are noticing that I even seem happier, which is great.
A few people from Paragon threw me a farewell on Friday night which was really nice. I miss a few of them. We used to have a lot of laughs together. I am making friends in my new job which is good, starting to get to know people. Barti - who used to work at Paragon, and was in my Development team - in a massive twist of fate, is working, not only in the same building as me, but on the same floor as well! We work down the hall from one another! How random is that!? It's good, because we can catch up whenever.
I have my new passport! Seriously, my photo makes me look like some evil character. Since you're not allowed to even smile in passport photos anymore, you have to look "serious". Unfortunately, my serious face also seems to be my death stare. Oh well, it's sorted, and I can now travel overseas.
I've also seen some movies recently. I saw Get Smart the other day, which if you haven't yet seen it, I recommend it. I really liked it, and the good thing was, although it was modernised, all the elements from the original where there. It was very funny, and Steve Carell plays the role very well.
I also saw the second Narnia movie - Prince Caspian. This movie was amazing. We saw it in Gold Class for a friends birthday. It was unreal, both Gold Class and the movie. I'd never done Gold Class before, so that was a great experience. I highly recommend this movie. There was a lot more violence in this one than in the previous one also, but the Narnia movies, progressively - like Harry Potter - get darker and darker. I remember reading all the books, many years ago, so I am looking forward to the following movie; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It comes out in 2010.
I saw Hancock as well. I wasn't impressed with this movie. The last few movies that Will Smith has done, haven't been all that good. This one had a few laughs, some seriousness, but on a whole, just didn't do it for me.
I've seen Sex and the City as well. It wasn't too bad, I enjoyed it. There were some parts that made me laugh, and there were some parts that were quite emotional. I had never really gotten into the series, and only saw it because it was the general consensus amongst friends, but am glad I did see it.
I also saw 21, which was more of an art-house move, but very good. It's inspired by a true story. It was also directed by an Aussie. It was really quite interesting, the whole idea of counting cards and how they did it, secret words and such. I saw it with Tim, and we jokingly said that, that was what we are going to do when we go to Vegas next year. We won't of course, given the facial recognition technology they have now. The thing is, what they did isn't actually illegal, counting cards is not breaking the law, but it's the way they went about doing it, effectively cheating.
I'm heading ice skating next weekend for a friends birthday. I have never done it before, so it should be an experience. I've roller skated, but this is completely different. It should be a fun, albeit wet, experience.
Hope everyone is well, I do apologise for my lack of posting/commenting as of late. I keep forgetting LJ.

The last month has been chaotic. Work is flat out, and it seems the work just doesn't end. That's good in a way because it keeps me busy. The weeks fly by, and before too long it's a Friday again. I still want to quit, though I haven't heard much from Prima, only that they need to interview more than just me, which is understandable of course. I am hoping that I hear soon. I've applied to other places as well, and am waiting to hear back from. The thing is, there really isn't all that much in the market at the moment. Oh well, soon, I hope. Fingers crossed.
Last week I managed to get a nasty cold, and am just getting over it now. Lost my voice and all, and gave it to a couple of people at work... Whoops. I should have taken some time off, but I dread to think what would happen and the amount of work to do when I get back. There's already not enough time in the day or week. Ah well.
I recently went to DJ Tiësto at Festival Hall with Jason. It was fantastic! I had a really awesome night. It was the first time I have ever been to a rave concert. The pyrotechnics were amazing, and Tiësto is like a machine! He just kept going and going. The concert was like a work-out. It was stifling in the hall because there were thousands of people and all crammed in together, the body heat is pretty intense. There were also a lot of shirtless guys there. Now there were some really good looking guys, but there are just some guys who should not take their shirts off in public... Seriously, it's not a good look when these guys think they're hot, but they're really not, and they're old and just yuck and they're dancing topless trying to show off... For the record, I left my shirt on.
I've had weird premonitions lately... Things I either dream about or just seem to think about, seem to be coming true. It's a little strange, but it's happening more and more lately. It's been both good and not-so-good things, and usually only a few days or so before it happens (so it's not like weeks or anything beforehand).
I saw Iron Man last week. It was great! I loved it. I had heard mixed reviews about it, but am glad I went and saw it. The characters were great, and the story stayed mostly true to its roots. The effects were also impressive. I'm looking forward to the sequel! Even Samuel L Jackson made a cameo appearance, which means that he'll play a major role in the sequel - given who he played in this one. Since the comics went for quite a while, there's a lot of places they can take the movie, so it will be very interesting.
Today, work was BAD. I really stuffed up. I'd built a website for a client, which we'd tested, and it worked, and they were happy and it was all good. My boss decided he wanted an update, which I made, and then copied to the live site. I should have backed it up before doing so though... I told him it was live, he went to test, and the website broke! They were going to the clients to demo, so told me I had 22min to fix it before the demo started. The file that controls the database access had gotten screwed up, and I was desperately trying to fix it. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so, and 30 people at the demo had to be told there was a problem... My boss was not happy... At all. He didn't yell, he was calm, asked me what happened, I told him the file got corrupted. I managed to fix it, but it took me almost an hour. I don't think I'll ever make that mistake again. Normally I'm very pedantic about backing up, and usually back-up before doing even the minimalist of changes, but this time I didn't because it was needed in a hurry and I thought it would be alright. Murphy's Law...
My parents have also gone away for about 5 weeks. They were in Perth for a few days and are now cruising around Asia for 3 weeks, and then going to Adelaide. It's good for them, because they both need it. Mum however has gotten sick, a chest infection that is borderline pneumonia which isn't good. My sister has managed to get a chest infection also almost pneumonia, a sinus infection, tonsillitis, bronchitis and may also have asthma. Yeah, she is not doing well... Hopefully both Mum and my sister get better. I've told my sister to stay away from me, I really don't want to get any of those, and my immune system is low from the cold, so I am less resistant to things still. I guess the good thing is that she usually works at night, so I don't tend to see her, although she has this whole week off work to get better.
Saturday afternoon, I am going to a friends 21st which should be good, and Saturday night Tim is coming for dinner, and we're going to my friends concert which should be good. It's going to be a busy weekend. I need to submit my passport application too.

I am so excited! I am going to Queensland in two days! I've been counting down for ages and it's finally here. I leave home at 5:30am Monday morning. I can't wait.
With that guy, he likes another one of my friends (Lan), and they are now seeing one another. Both felt bad because they both knew that I had feelings for him, but as I said to them, I had figured it out already, and that I knew the guy I liked had feelings for Lan even before Lan knew. Apparently my hints had been picked up on, so I guess it means I was dropping hints the right way. I had already resigned to the fact that it wasn't going to happen anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. Lan came over yesterday for my sisters birthday, and we had a pretty long D&M where he told me about it all. I told him that I already knew and that I was fine with it. I've spoken to the guy since then, and we're all good. He told me that he really wanted to say something, but didn't because Lan had said that he wanted to do so, and that he needed to do it in person, because online just isn't the right place to do it, which is fair enough. I'm happy for them though, I think it's great that they've started dating, they are very cute together.
So, it was also my sisters birthday yesterday (the 29th of Feb - yes she is a leap year baby). It was a great night overall, lots of singing, dancing and going in the spa. It was lots of fun.
Work is going well too, and I am fairly confident that all will go well while I am gone. If it doesn't I don't care because I am not answering the phone if it's a work number or a number I don't recognise. I am forgetting about it all for the next two weeks!
Tim and I recently went and saw Definitely, maybe. It was a really good movie. It's a romantic comedy. Both of us enjoyed it quite a lot. I think Tim was trying to make the night last longer before I had to leave, because he kept saying that I should just quickly watch part of this episode of a TV show, then another, and another. We're so used to seeing each other once or twice a week, and now it'll be at least 3 weeks since I am no longer at NLC (Dulal has taken over, my training of him is complete), so we can't go out for lunch anymore. The good thing is, I will have an excuse to see him, he's doing French at uni, and he wants me to help him because I did it for so long. So it's an 'educational' reason to go and see him. I will really miss him though.

It's upon us, tomorrow is Christmas eve! It's been an interesting week. I am now on holidays until the 2nd of January! A lot has happened this week too.
We've had consistent rain and flash flooding over the last 3 days, which seeing as it's summer over here is very odd. It was sort of good though because we got a lot of needed rain. It wasn't good though because the roads got flooded which made driving home with water up around the tops of wheels very hazardous. It took 2 hours instead of 35min to get home from work. The rain was so heavy, and even hail that it was almost impossible to see out the windscreen because that was wiped away by the wipers, was replaced instantly with more rain and water coming up from the wheels. It was not a fun drive home.
It is now official - I am single, but meh, I am not worried at this stage anyway.
Jason resigned! This came about on Tuesday, he got a phone call, and came out of it very happy. I knew something good had just happened, but didn't say much. He then went into a meeting with Clair and Milan, and then came out and asked me if I wanted to go to an early lunch. On the way to lunch he told me that he had just resigned. The phone call was to tell him about an offer, which he accepted then and there, and then resigned. He starts his new job on the 7th of Jan. I am so happy for him, and it's great that he's been able to go to bigger and better things. I am going to miss him a lot though, he's been my mentor for almost 18 months... This will make me team leader, and the most senior developer there... That's a tad scary. We are getting someone in to handle the NLC stuff which is good because it means that I don't have to go there. Things started to go sour later in the week though...
Friday - the last day of the week and working year for me - started out alright... On the way to work though, I heard a massive bang, then all the lights on my dashboard came on, I lost steering. It was only by chance that I wasn't far from work, and was just able to make it there, although turning was very hard. I had a look, and found that my power steering belt and alternator belt had snapped. Great. I had to get my car towed to a mechanics to get fixed. I rang Clair and said what had happened, and that if it wasn't fixed, could I take a company car and he said I could take Jason's when he got back from NLC that night. Later that morning, I get a call from Clair. "Go to NLC, sooner rather than later". I repeated that I did not have a car, and could not get there, so he gave me someone else's company car to get there, which meant this guy who finished at 4pm, had to wait for me to get back before he could leave. I then had to get Mum and Dad to go and pick up my car, pay for it and bring it back to Paragon and then go back home. I was very annoyed at this. Jason didn't even know that I was coming in, so he knew that he was in the bad books. Jason started a little bit of a handover to me, as since he was leaving, and the new guy was starting after he left, I would have to do the handover to him. I then found out that I'd be working at NLC on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, because one of the bosses at NLC got an e-mail from Clair telling him this. Clair didn't tell me though... I wasn't happy about the lack of communication. Anyway, I knew Jason had a meeting with Clair when he got back, and because we didn't think it'd go well, I knew I'd have a meeting afterward. Jason came out of his meeting fairly quickly, very upset, and I went to say something to him, but he shook his head and was escorted out of the building... I was then called into a meeting to be told of what happened. Jason's employment had been ceased from that moment onward, and they wanted nothing to do with him. They even uninvited him to the Christmas party that was today! They told me about a few other things that made me quite upset, but I held it together. I left the meeting after a good 15 or so minutes, and everyone looked at me and knew it was bad. I just left and told people I'd speak to them on Saturday when we headed up to Port Arlington to spend the night there before the Christmas party. I called Jason and made sure he was still coming with us, and he was.
On Saturday, Jason and I got to Paragon, and since Jason was now not coming on Sunday, he had to take his own car, whilst I took a company car. We met a friend of mine in Geelong for lunch on the way, and reached Port Arlington by around 2pm. It didn't take as long as I thought it would take to get there, especially since we were going to the other side of the city, and then further still. Kait, Jen, Brendan and Craig arrived later that day, and we all had a great night. We polished off a few bottles of red wine and I think Jason had a champagne, which sent me to sleep while sitting on the couch, but not for long. Then Jen fell asleep on the couch for about 30min and we all decided to go to bed. It was really sad as it was only 11:30! Today, Jason had to come back to Melbourne, and the rest of us headed to the staff Christmas party. The weather was interesting, it got sunny, then rained, then sunny and rained. I even got a little burnt! There was a lot of food there which was great. It was also a family day, so there were a lot of kids around causing havoc. It wasn't too bad though. It was at the bosses farm. It was set up on a hill overlooking the bay. It was so beautiful up there, and that view was just awesome. It was set on 80 acres of land, so it was massive. As usual, we were all given presents from the boss, and this year everyone got a 4gig Ipod Nano! That's a very impressive present, especially after putting on the day,and sharing your house with everyone and their families. We spent most of the day there, and left late in the afternoon. It took about 2 hours to get home, but the traffic was a little more busy than when we left. I picked up my car from Paragon and then drove it back home. It was a really good weekend. I'm glad Jason still came down for the night, even though he had to then go back home so early the next day. I am really going to miss him too. I've said that no matter what happens, or what I am told by Clair or Milan, nothing changes between him and I. They've told me stuff, which I don't believe, and I won't buy into. He's become a good friend, and I wouldn't want to lose that. We'll be keeping in close contact anyway which is good.
Also, I want to with everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or Happy Holidays! See you all in the new year - or earlier if I make another entry before then.
Geez, almost 1 month since I last posted here... Where does the time go? I've been pretty busy though. I've been to 2 more 21st's which were both pretty good, one in particular was an absolutely fantastic night. I ended up staying the night (I was over the limit to drive and was having way too much fun to realise where the time went). The first one was a dress-up one, we had to come as a movie character. I ended up going as The Phantom of the Opera, only because I'd seen it the week before, and it gave me the idea. Plus, it was made into a movie, although not nearly as good as the production. There were lots of other characters there too. A Darth Vader, Aladdin, Private Ryan, Catwoman (who was actually a male...), two incarnations of Dr Who and loads of others. I may have gotten a tad too inebriated, but I was still in control, and knew when to stop, so it was alright.
I've also seen a few more movies since then too. I saw Evan Almighty which was pretty good. It was funnier than I thought it would be too. I also saw The Brave One, which was fantastic! It's very long, but well worth the watch. Jodi Foster is an excellent actress. I have also seen The Kingdom, which was equally as good, but a lot more violent and some scenes were quite disturbing. It was all about terrorism. I have to admit though, there are way too many films about terrorism these days. Can't they write about something else? What happened to your murder mysteries and psychological thrillers? I realise there is terrorism out there, but they are really over-doing it. I went and saw Saw IV as well last night. Let's just say that it's very gory and most scenes would be disturbing to children, which is why it's rated MA (Restricted to Mature Audiences) of course. I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy it, but I wasn't overly impressed with it either. Tomorrow we're going to see Resident Evil: Extinction with work which should be a lot of fun.
Other things have changed as well. I went out on a date last night! It's been a long time (like 9 months) since I'd been on a date, so it was slightly nerve-racking. We saw Saw IV, maybe not the most appropriate movie for a first date, but hey, it went still very well. His name is Shaun, and he's a really nice guy. After the movie, we went for a bit of a walk, it was a good night for it with the wind blowing nicely and that. He's asked me out again, and I've said yes. So yeah, as of this point, I'm no longer single!
I am also no longer at NLC. I have completed my tenure there, after how ever many months its been. I'm both happy it's over, and sad at the same time. It grew on me, I got along with all the staff there, and had made friends. I didn't get the chance to say good bye either because I found out on Friday afternoon (and I don't go there on Friday's). It also means I can't have lunch with Tim (not that I can at the moment seeing as he's in America at the moment) on Tuesday's anymore, which I am going to really miss. I'd look forward to them every week. It was one of the only good things about the Tuesday, that and then going to a movie after work. I'm really going to miss that. I think as Melbourne Cup is coming up next week, Tim will be back, and I have the day off. We're going to go in and have one last lunch for old time's sake and so I can tell the restaurant who know us really well now (since we've gone there every time we've gone out for lunch) that we won't be able to come back as I'm not in the city anymore.
So yeah, that's the updates in my life at the moment!
Today, I went and saw The Phantom of the Opera. I had been looking forward to this for a very long time. We booked the tickets months ago, as soon as we heard it was coming back to Melbourne. I woke up this morning ecstatic.
I last saw it 10 years ago when it was in Melbourne. Suffice it to say back then I absolutely enjoyed it. This time was no different, however now that I am older and more mature, my appreciation for it has increased tenfold. It was absolutely amazing! Anthony Warlow (The Phantom) and Ana Maria (Christine) are superb (as were the rest of the characters)! The music comes from the heart, and I think all who hear it feel the passion and the emotion poured into it by the cast. It's just so powerful and full of emotion. There were a number of times when I had to try to hold back tears, the music and singing struck my heart and soul. It was just sensational. It's even hard to even say what my favourite part was, as I enjoyed the entire show. The only thing that put a dampener on it was that some idiot didn't like where he was sitting and decided the he'd complain a couple of minutes before the show started, thus making it start late. He was near a pole, and reckoned that it obstructed his view (just like it someone is really tall and sits in front of you, it's called bad luck), but he went on and on, and demanded that he be given a seat at the front. All of them were taken though (as it was completely sold out - and for good reason!). He was told he could sit near the back and was given two seats up there for him and his partner. He was in our row as well, so he was going back and forward, so we all had to stand up for him each time, which was very annoying. The first half he sat up the back, and then after intermission, he came back and sat where he was originally. I tell you, some people are never happy. All they want to do is cause trouble. I wanted to say something to him, but Mum and Dad told me that I better not. Mum was going to trip him up the next time we had to stand for him so he could go wherever he had to. Though, he didn't move from his spot after intermission - thank God. After all that, and he goes back to where he was supposed to be sitting... Anyway, Mum and Dad commented that the show was even better when they last saw it (also 10 years ago - but I went with school and Mum and Dad went together, but we had different singers). I could easily see it again, and never be bored. I also got some merchandise. I bought a pen and a t-shirt where the front has the Phantom mask which glows in the dark (which I thought was pretty cool) and the back has 'The Phantom of the Opera' written on it. It looks really good.
On Saturday it was Lan's 20th Birthday and CK's 21st. Lan did dinner with some friends and CK had a function at a city club type place. I went to Lan's first, which was pretty good. The only thing that wasn't so good was the Lan ordered a steak, medium rare, and it came out very, very rare. It almost went "moo" when he cut into it. He ate what he could, but ended up sending it back and said he didn't want a new one, but just to let them know that it was too rare. The waitress came back, and told him that he asked for rare and she confirmed with him and he said yes. We all heard him say medium rare though, and she didn't confirm anything with him. She only came around and asked who ordered a Parma. The rest of dinner went well, although Matthew complained (he wasn't going to CK's), but after CK's people were going clubbing, and Matthew wanted to go to a club, and he said that we should all go there. The thing is, it's not really up to us, it's CK's birthday, we go where he wants. After Lan and Matthew had a somewhat heated dispute (in which I tried to help solve to no avail), we left, and Lan was very angry. I told him not to worry, Matthew is just being difficult and it's his birthday, and not up to Matthew. Anyway, Lan calmed down, and we headed to CK's. We got there around 10-ish, in time for speeches, as Tim was doing a speech (and he was also at Lan's). It was good to see a whole lot of other friends we hadn't seen in a while. We had a great time. Tim was given some clothes that his friend bought him in Malaysia, so he decided to try them on. He turned around to take his top off and goes to me that he is fat, which he is not. I told him he wasn't and said he looked great, so he pushes out his stomach to make it look fat. I just laughed and said pushing it out doesn't count and went to (but stopped myself) tap his stomach jokingly. Then he wanted to try the pants on, so he goes behind the chair to take his pants off, and put on the new ones. He wanted me to stand in front, so no-one saw. I know what people are going to ask... Did I take a sneaky look? Well... Yes. Haha. He looked really good though (I mean in the new clothes...)
Anyway, after CK's, we decided to go to the Peel. I'm not the biggest fan there, but Tim and I decided to go for a bit (as I was driving him home). I had a sleeveless shirt on (in case I did end up going clubbing) so took my jacket off and chucked it in the car. It was about a 15min or so walk to the Peel from where we were, so it was pretty close. We ended up staying there a little longer than planned because it was actually really fun. Although, when we walked in, some old guy tried cracking onto Tim, and then blocked my every attempt to get closer to Tim to try and save him. I said to Tim after I should've told him to stop hitting on my boyfriend to make him go away, but oh well. We danced for a while, and even I got hit on (which rarely happens), though from one guy it was most unwelcome, and he kept trying over and over grabbing me and stuff. That was kind of annoying, but then a hot guy did (not grab me though, but dance), and that wasn't so bad. I even danced back with him, so that was a bit of fun. Tim and I left around 1:50 or so, as he had to work today, and I also had to be up in time.
Overall, I have had a fantastic weekend!
Also this week we are seeing Evan Almighty with some work friends, so that should be good. I'm looking forward to that too!

Still slack here... I forget these days I think. It's still the same old same old though. Working at NLC which is actually getting better. I don't mind it now. The days go quick because there's a fair bit to do, and the only time I don't like it is when there are errors. Tuesdays are the best though because I get to catch up for lunch with Tim. I am still doing Tuesday's and Thursday's for now, so hopefully that doesn't change like it was supposed to.
I also had a job interview recently. I didn't even need to send in a resumé, I just called them up, inquired about it, told them what I did and how long I had been doing it for, and they asked me to come in for an interview. The interview went for 2 hours, so I was fairly confident, however, as it was going along, I realised I didn't want the job anymore. They offered me $35,000 which is 3 more than I currently get from Paragon, and they wanted me to code in C# which I don't know, get 2 Microsoft Certifications within 3 months and some other stuff which really put me off. I'll stick to Paragon while my job is secure and keep looking around.
I went and saw Hairspray last weekend with Tim. It was really good. I enjoyed it. John Travolta as a woman is hilarious, he does it very well! It was a feel-good comedy too. I'm not normally a fan of musicals, but this was one of the exceptions.
I've got a few birthdays coming up too. I've got 2 on Saturday night to go to, then one in a couple of weeks, followed by Mum's, then another one not long after that, and another, then mine, followed by another birthday... Oh yeah, by then it's just under a month until Chirstmas too!
I am excited about Friday night too, as I'm going Laser Wars, which I haven't been for absolutely ages, so it should be a lot of fun. I'm going with some friends from work, and Barti is bringing some of his friends, and I think Tim will be coming along as well.
On a side note, what happens if you really like a friend (in 'that' way) who also happens to be an ex, who you now see heaps, speak to almost everyday and are getting mixed signals from...? I have no idea if I should try something, or leave it alone in case I am totally mistaken and make a fool out of myself...
Also, this song is really good! It's got some great lyrics in it. I'll post them so people don't have to search in case they want to.
I did my best to please you But my best was never good enough Somehow you're only able to see All I am not
Did you ever look behind Aren't you afraid of the pieces you'll find I have failed you but you have failed me too
[Chorus] It's so easy to destroy and condemn The ones you do not understand do you ever wonder if it's justified
It's so easy to destroy and condemn The ones you do not understand in your life why didn't you ever try
I close my eyes as I walk the thin line between love and hate For the person with the same blood in his veins
You show no regrets about all the things you did or said I have failed you but believe me you failed me too
[Chorus 2x]
